Marketing wonk dinner in New York
Time for another Marketing Wonk* dinner, this time in New York City.
* When: Friday, Jan. 21, 2005
* Where: Samplings Restaurant and Bar, in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square (in the bar area)
* When: 6 p.m.
* Who'll be there: Confirmed marketing wonks so far include yours truly of The Church, plus Steve Rubel of CooperKatz and Mr. MicroPersuasion, Dana VanDen Heuvel of Blog Savant, Bill Flitter of Pheedo, Toby Bloomberg of Bloomberg Marketing and the Diva Marketing Blog, PR consultant and blogging guru B.L. Ochman, Mary Katherine (MK) Timme of Interior Design Magazine, Andrew Van Hook of Digitas and the Urban Pioneer Project, ad agency pro and blogger Jayme Maultasch, EchoDitto COO (and former Dean campaign IT director) Harish Rao, Doubleclick dude and Business Blog Consulting guru Rick Bruner, Blogads founder Henry Copeland, Lucent web marketing manager Kerry Kennedy, BMG director of marketing Wendy St. Clair, and marketing planner for actors, Arisa Kuo. A few wonks from the office of New York City's chief marketing officer Joe Parello may join us, too. I'll add more names to this post as they become available.
* What it's about: A Marketing Wonk dinner is an informal gathering of marketers, entrepreneurs or the oddly curious who want to talk with like-minded people about their favorite subject: marketing. It's open-invitation and Dutch treat (you're on your own for drinks and food -- Samplings serves both). There's no agenda, no speakers, no presentations, (and for the sake of everyone's sanity, no selling)... just plenty of hot marketing opinions.
If you can attend, an RSVP via email or in the comments section below is helpful but not required.
The next Marketing Wonk dinner will be Feb. 18 in Chicago, in the fourth-floor dining area of the Nordstrom building in the Shops of Northbridge, 520 N. Michigan. I'll create a separate post for that in a few weeks.
* Wonk: "One who studies an issue or a topic thorougly or excessively, sometimes to the annoyance of others at cocktail parties."
