Apple marketing department: 911

Several times during the WOMMA Summit I've heard people refer (most likely, absentmindedly) to "the Sony iPod."

The Ultimate in Guerilla marketing!! That is probably one of the greatest compliments that you could ever pay Sony.

The speaker who made the blunder actually repeated Sony Ipod twice.

Yup, that's right. Someone else in another track also said "Sony iPod."

I'm not sure there's really an emergency here... I think that people are apt to make mistakes like this regardless of what the reality is. I can spell my name after repeating it twice and people will still call me Jason McGee.

I agree, Jake. Not really an emergency... Maybe just "alert."

Perhaps it's a reflection of the ingrained nature of Sony's Walkman still wields over the consciousness (or subconcious) of society.

Nobody under 40 would make a mistake like that and that is the market for those puppies
