The buzz on Elmo
T.M.X. Elmo (for Tickle Me eXtreme) is out and the buzz is off the charts. Lots of amateur video on the web showing the furry toy throwing itself on the ground laughing uncontrollably, only to get back up.
Yahoo! Current Buzz, a new online channel that is the brainchild of the online portal and Al Gore's Current TV, has a pretty good roundup of all of the citizen-created content about Elmo circulating around the web, including people filming Elmo laughing himself off store shelves, dogs barking at Elmo, music videos created about Elmo, impressions of Elmo and banks of Elmos dancing and laughing in unison.
For hot new toys, online content created by customers fuels the word of mouth.

Funny side effect of the internet and viral marketing... now with YouTube, we don't actually need to spend the $40. Our 2-year-old, who loves Sesame Street, is happy to watch him on the screen. I don't think she sees that to be any different than the TV show, except that TMX Elmo is "too loud" for her. She'll ask to see Elmo and after a few seconds, she'll ask for "something else" or "Veggie Tales."
