Welcome to Crayonville
Without the right creative mindset, a launch party can easily become a trite and tired effort that few people beyond the agency, client or a few of their close friends bother to talk about.
But Joe Jaffe, Shel Holtz and Neville Hobson got plenty of people talking about their company launch. They created an island in Second Life that will be the virtual home of their new marketing agency, Crayon. The island is, of course, called "Crayonville."
The launch party happened last Thursday on the island when Crayon launched and announced its first two clients. I missed the party but checked out the island later that day and I ended up chatting with people who were hanging out at the island. It was an instant conversation, pretty much the goal for any new company.
