Defining 2006

David Armano asks, "What was the most significant event/aspect of 2006 in regards to marketing, advertising or user experience?"

It's a good question, and it has inspired an abundancy of thoughtful answers from smart people. If you haven't chimed in with your answer, you should.

My answer would be: 2006 was the year that amateur culture emerged from the water, and it frightened a lot of people.
