5 things about me

I've been tagged on the "5 things you don't know about me" meme by Peter Kim, Jim Nail and Bob Baker. In the spirit of fun, here goes.

  1. I was a computer science major at Penn State University. I'm a geek from back in the day. Early in my career at IBM, I was a "PC coordinator" for our department, a not-lofty title which meant I was tech support. I could swap out a hard-drive with the best of them.
  2. I decorate cakes. I am a graduate of the Wilton Method classes, levels 1 and 2. Cake decorating is an under appreciated craft, mostly because cake is more to fun eat than decorate.
  3. I am an avid swing dancer. I was a founding member of the Dallas Swing Dance Society in 1999. At weekly dances in Dallas, our dance-geeky group went all out with vintage clothes and 1940's hairstyles. Can you spot me in this photo montage?
  4. I like to sing karaoke. At home, that is. I have my own karaoke machine and microphone stand. At home, no one cares that you are completely off key. Not even my dog.
  5. My birthday is on Groundhog Day. Like the movie of the same name, my birthday keeps happening over and over. It's hell ; )

So the other part of this game is that I have to tag some bloggers to carry on the meme. Like Mack, I will end the chain here and not inflict this upon anyone else : )

You're right! I didn't know any of those things about you.

I'm a Wilton grad too! You're right - it's highly under appreciated... :-)

I knew you were a Penn State Geek, but I had no idea you were born on Groundhog Day. Do people visit you on your birthday to look for your shadow? If they find it, does Chicago have six more weeks of winter, thus ending on my birthday in August?
