Gifts with buzz
George asks, "What gift did you or your child(ren) receive that has been a real surprise that you tell everyone about?"
I got an iPhone. I'm an Apple fan and wanted one the minute I saw it. The clincher: Spike told me that syncing with Entourage was easy.
Now that I've had my iPhone for a week, here's the surprise: You cannot mass-delete email. You must delete every email one at a time. That's a big problem for dealing just with the ton of spam that arrives. I don't recommend the iPhone if you're an email person like me.
However, I do looker cooler using it, so I got that going for me, which is nice ; )
George says he's been telling everyone about the PlasmaCar he got for his kids (I want one already!) and Snap Circuits.
What holiday gifts have you been evangelizing the past few days?
Other blogs that reference Gifts with buzz:
SO GLAD you made the leap, Jackie. And I heard a rumor that they are updating the firmware soon with goodies like being able to customize the layout of the icons on the home screen. Sweet. Sweet. And yes, even more sweet.
Have fun, iPhone sister.
I got an Air Hog Havoc mini RC helicopter that is pretty fun for indoor use (http://www.rcmania.com/reviews/air-hogs-havoc-helicopter/). I could easily see this used as an attention getter in trade shows--put on a show and lure customers to your booth.
We also just unboxed our Nintendo Wii last night, and it so far lives up to its hype as fun for gamers and non-gamers alike (http://www.nintendo.com/wii/)

Set up your email to work with Gmail set to use IMAP then it will sync perfectly with your gmail on your regular computer. Gmail can be said up to read emails from your regular place automatically and it gets rid of spam very well too.
Not sure who or what you're doing for actual email providing, but I've recently toggled on my ISP's server based software and have yet (knock on wood) to have it flag any false positives. This means that I don't see 99.9% of spam, and thus my iPhone experience is still wonderful even though I'm a hardcore email user with three different accounts coming into my various inboxes I check daily.
I've been evangelizing FOR my better whole! I put alot of research, negotiation & time into selecting his Christmas gift (a chocolate/rose Tag Heuer watch). Now I want to make sure he wears it everday!
I'd agree wholeheartedly with the AirHogs comment. Our 5-yr old son got an Air Hog helicopter, and then Santa surprised me with one as well. Lots of lots of fun. My 50-year old sister is buying a dozen for the office for the sales team that she manages.
My son a senior in high school received an Iphone, He loves it because the music and camera. The email is not as important as the text messaging. When he went back to school Thursday he came home and said that everyone received one that released his buzz.
I have received numerous Thank You emails from the cards sent by my company. http://hotcookies.net
My gift was being left alone for a week to learn how to use all the software and gadgets I've been accumulating for the past year. Technology is great; I just need the time to set it all up.
