18 cool things at SXSW
SXSW Interactive is one of my favorite conferences. There's plenty to learn, and smart people have shared their takeaways.
For my report, here are some random, off-beat things I learned for the first time.
- Smurfs know how to party.
- Guy Kawasaki can do a dead-on Sarah Lacy impersonation.
- There are more interactive marketers in Minnesota than anywhere else in the world.
- BJ Novak should be my new boyfriend.
- The Salt Lick makes great cobbler.
- The guy who invented Obamicon works for Paste Magazine.
- Viral marketing doesn't work. Tell everyone you know.
- Ford has an un-Ford-like car called the Flex.
- Dell has an un-Dell-like laptop called the Adamo.
- Stuff White People Like is funny.
- Passive Aggressive Notes is funny.
- Fail Blog = LMFAO.
- The word "freetard" makes me laugh.
- Stephanie Klein lives in Austin.
- Peter Kim is younger than I am. Don't ask.
- Zappos does over $1 billion in annual sales, one-third of which is returned.
- If you're not on the VIP list for SXSW parties, you end up waiting in a long, long line.
- Pastries + Pasties = crazy delicious
What would you add to the list?

Wish I was there, looks like an awesome event!
Did Peter Kim ask you how old you are too? I also learned that when people don't proofread, it can be really funny: http://www.smorty71.com/2009/03/proofreading-is-fundamental.html
Heather,
Actually I asked Peter first how old he was. He's younger than I thought : )
The Ford Flex? Who would've thought? Great caravaning & BBQing with you in Austin!
Jackie, it was nice to meet you in person at SXSW.
Hey, I'm new here. I'm enjoyed your blog.
Especially laughed when you said, viral marketing doesn't work, tell everyone you know. What a play on words! good stuff.
